Unexpected Shipping Delay
– Fri, Sep 07, 2018 at 04:43:34 PM
Hello Backers,
I regret to notify you that we have encountered a delay in shipping the goods from the factory.
As I had previously mentioned, we put great care and effort into the quality of our products and perform a lot of product testing. As part of this process, we do something called a 'finished goods inspection'. This is a process where we randomly select samples from the finished product and put them through additional testing to ensure there is consistency in quality of the finished product.
Unfortunately, we were not satisfied with the result of this testing. Upon further investigation we identified a problem with how the carts were being assembled at the factory.
We immediately booked a flight and our engineer is leaving for the factory tomorrow. We expect to work through the issues with the factory this coming coming week and get things back in order ASAP.
I don't want to quote a new shipping date until we confirm that the issues have been resolved. I expect this will delay things by a couple weeks, but we still hope to have product shipped to everyone before the end of October.
I will post another update once we have firm details to share.
Thank you again for your support and patience while we work to ensure the highest quality in our product.

UpCart City Shipping Update
– Fri, Aug 17, 2018 at 03:02:03 PM
Hello Backers,
I wanted to provide a quick update where things are at. Production is pretty much done and we are ready to put those beauties on the water for their long voyage to the USA.
Unfortunately there is a lot of congestion on the ocean vessels that travel between Asia and the USA. This is considered "peak season" and it's similar to airlines... some vessels get overbooked. We were scheduled as stand-by on an earlier vessel but didn't want to take the risk of not getting on and looking for a new vessel.
So we have a firm booking that sets sail on September 3rd and arrives in port at Prince Rupert (Canada) on September 22nd. From there, we will clear customs and send the carts via rail to Chicago. The last stage of the journey will be via truck to our warehouse in Columbus Ohio. it typically takes about 10-12 days to get from port in Canada to our warehouse.
We expect to have the carts in our facility by October 2nd or 3rd. We will do our best to turn these around super fast and start shipping out order that very week.
We will be sending out our backer surveys in the next two weeks. Please keep your eyes out for the survey and make sure to provide accurate shipping information!

Testing Approved - Production Under Way

Hello Backers!
It's been a few weeks since our last update. Rest assured we have busy at work. It is extremely important for us to thoroughly test every UpCart model to ensure it lives up to our quality standards. To may of you, our customers, the UpCart isn't just cart... it's an aide to help accomplishing daily tasks and staying independent. For that reason, we do our best to ensure we have put each new model through sufficient testing (including real-world use).
We were on track to start full scale manufacturing in June, however during our rigorous testing process, we saw some things that we were concerned with. Full explanation and details are provided below in case you want to understand what happened.
Unfortunately, our schedule has been set back by a few weeks. We have given the green light to being production this week. It will take us about 40-45 days to manufacture, assemble, package and ship the first order. This means your UpCarts should be ready to leave the factory around August 25th. Since the UpCart City is manufactured in Asia, it will take about 30-35 days to get the carts to our warehouse in Ohio. That means we won't be able to get your orders shipped until about the last week of September or the first week of October.
It was our sincere hope to get the Early Bird orders out in August. Now it looks like we should be able to get ALL orders out in September or the the first week of October at latest.
We sincerely apologize for this delay, but hope you understand and appreciate our commitment to quality and testing.
We are extremely excited to be moving into the mass production stage and can't wait to get the UpCart City carts shipped out to all of you!
Read this section to understand what caused the delay:
The arms that connect the wheels to the frame are a critical component and quite tricky to produce. You may notice that there are two significant bends very close together at different angles. This is actually quite difficult to do consistently, accurately and efficiently.
We had created a tool called a 'Fixture' to hold the metal tube while a person used another tool to physically bend the tube. They then needed to adjust and reposition the tube for the second bend. If done carefully and accurately, this would provide a good result, but it was extremely tedious and prone to errors if rushed. The result of this was that some arms were perfect and others were not.
We knew that this would not be good enough, so we had to look for a better solution. We are very happy to report that we found the perfect solution that is consistent, accurate, and efficient... after conducting some research, we found a machine that can do the entire process in an automated manner. See link to YouTube video showing this process:
After making this adjustment, producing new samples, and additional testing, we are very happy to share that the UpCart City has passed all testing and has been approved for mass production.
Thanks again to all of you for helping support this campaign!

Status Update

– Wed, Jun 06, 2018 at 11:39:35 AM
Hello Backers!
Thank you again for your support! We are very excited to get your UpCarts to you as soon as possible. We wanted to provide a quick status update and what to expect from here.
Product design and development has been finalized and completed. We are currently putting the UpCart City through rigorous testing to make sure it holds up to our quality standards.
As soon as testing is completed and passed, we will begin manufacturing.
We will be sending out backer surveys in July/August. This survey will confirm your order and your shipping address. We want to send out the survey closer to the time when your actual orders will ship. This will ensure accuracy in your address/information.
While our UpCart City Kickstarter campaign has come to an end, the fun doesn't have to stop... we will continue to take pre-orders on Indiegogo. You can access/share that page here: https://igg.me/at/UpCartCity
In the mean time if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us directly via our website https://www.UpCart.com or via email at [email protected]
Thank you!
